About Us

Owners Angelo and Diane Panousis have been serving the finest Italian and Greek foods for over forty years. Angelo grew up in the western Greek village of Prevza where he learned traditional country recipes and also pursued his love of European Football, starring on the local professional team. 

In 1965, Angelo emigrated to the United States with the dream of owning a business and becoming an American Citizen.  He achieved both quickly and by 1966 Angelo opened a popular chain of pizza restaurants in Connecticut and western Massachusetts.  Angelo employed some of the best local Italian chefs and learned the famous New York style of Italian cooking. In 1969 he met and married his wife Diane and in 1975 Angelo became a citizen of the United States.

Angelo and Diane moved to the South by 1972 and opened restaurants in Jacksonville, FL; St. Marys, GA, Kingsland, GA and Woodbine, GA.  Over the next thirty-five years, their family friendly restaurants became a house hold name in these towns due to their commitment to creating the best entrees, providing excellent service and ensuring customer satisfaction.  

In 2008, Angelo and Diane opened their restaurant in Griffin, GA.  Angelo, Diane and the staff at Angelo's Mediterranean are committed to serving only the finest foods, made with the freshest ingredients. All of our dishes are made from scratch.
